100.6

A fever of 99.8 greeted Collette at around four in the morning, edging its way to 100.6 by 7:30. Virus, indeed. Puck was kept away. Collette could hear him in the hallway…
“Dad, I still have an egg line across my face.”
Apparently during outdoor play the previous evening, he had come across a bird’s egg, which had popped between his fingers all over his face…
He stuck his head in the room later with a big grin, Shaun the Sheep wrapped around behind his neck…
“I’m gonna get you another pillow, Mama,” he said with a look of concern. “So you don’t get more sick.”
With OLeif heading out to class and work, he brought Puck along to spend some time at the house before joining Gloria for the rest of the day and to spend the night. Meanwhile, Mom, Carrie, and Linnea were off to see the cats and to pick up blue prints in the city, followed by Mom and Dad joining Rose at her apartment for dinner. Joe would attend Magnus’ art exhibit at UMSL. While Collette was shut off from the world, waiting it out.
Puck delivered numerous farewells, tapping on the glass of Collette’s bedroom window to wave, his little blonde head just sticking above the pane. The little chub-chub. Collette hated to spend a day away from him.
