19 JUL 25

Puck walks into the living room that morning examining his steel-toed boots... “Stepped on a wolf spider last night at J's and all these baby spiders went running out everywhere”... he takes a seat and starts swinging a slowing-unrolling roll of Scotch tape around through the air like a rhythmic gymnastics ribbon twirler at the Olympics... somehow the topic of summer heat then comes up... “I hate summer here” he grumbles... // “Well at least it's not summer in Arizona or something...” // “Arizona is an oven and then it's... less... of an oven”...

On this intellectual talking point... I leave to pick up Patience from her usual two-hour class at the studio...

...while all the boys split to meet Puck's potential new ride... a '76 Lincoln Continental being sold by a Lebanese-American mechanic ten minutes down the road...

Later in the afternoon Puck enthusiastically shares his experience with the vintage vehicle...

...while Patience just as enthusiastically tries on her completely new and ridiculously expensive pair of white and petal pink Nike “bubble shoes”... after she's pranced around in them for awhile she preemptively reprimands her brothers... “Whatever you guys do... do not pop these bubble shoes!”... Puck grins evilly... “Here...” he walks over to her... “hold still for a second”... Patience runs off squealing...

...which I guess inspires Yali to begin running circuits around the interior of the house...

...while Puck brings out his machete to test on random pieces of board leftover from projects strewn around the living room...

Evening ends driving south for A&W while reading on NDEs to Oxbear with lots of discussion... cheeseburgers and root beer for the road home...
