2 : Makes Me Feel Weird

“Mom?”

“Yes, Puck?”

We were driving through a spit of rain on Page, the early part of the morning. Puck, as always, had conversation and questions for me. Can’t get tired of that.

“You know the oldest man who ever lived?”

“Methuselah. 969. That’s almost one thousand years.”

“Yeah. Well, how did he live so long?”

“Some people think that before the big Flood, all that water was caught up in the atmosphere and filtered the sun’s rays differently so it didn’t harm people the same way it might now. It’s one theory.”

“Oh. … Well, can you imagine how crazy it would be to live that long and have that many birthday presents?!”

“It would be pretty crazy.”

“It’s hard to imagine God never having a beginning, you know? It makes me feel weird. I mean, we all have beginnings. But God never did.”

“Hard to wrap your head around, isn’t it?”

“Yeah.”

“But it should be that way. Because God is God, and humans are humans. We shouldn’t understand everything yet. But one day we will understand a lot more. Especially in the New Heavens and the New Earth.”

I saw Puck grin in my rearview mirror. “When we get there, I want a garden.”

I’m sure it will be packed with veggies.

After a morning at the Big House, we had afternoon back home to meet our social worker for our third post-adoption update.

When we returned to the Silverspoon’s, Gloria asked, “So, do we still get to keep him?”

Everything still checks out A-OK. On both continents.
