Everyone was off in different places that day…
Dad had taken Joe and Francis to MIZZOU for a tour of his old stomping grounds, and the football game at six o’clock, where Wally also met them for the afternoon.
Mom was accompanying Grandma Combs to someone’s 50th wedding anniversary celebration somewhere in southern Missouri, as far as Collette understood.
OLeif and Rose were still in Nashville to see The Punch Brothers until Sunday, and where OLeif had, apparently, consumed a thirty-five dollar meal of Scotch eggs and pudding for dinner the previous night.
Linnea was apple picking with the girls from youth group.
And so Collette and Puck went over to spend the day with Carrie-Bri, and for a sleepover.
Meanwhile…
The colors on the trees had bombed that season. In the words of the old IT group at NAWS: ‘Epic Fail’.
Puck was being loud that day. What a chump.
The previous evening he had sat through the film relatively well, and had spent part of it sitting on his mama’s lap feeding her popcorn, alternating with feeding himself.
It was a quiet morning…
As Puck went down for his nap, Collette and Carrie-Bri viewed half of Kin Dza-Dza, a 1986 Russian film about an alien desert planet.
When Linnea returned from apple picking at four o’clock, she carried a bag of giant Golden Delicious apples, gourds, and pumpkins. She had intentions to make her first apple pie.
It was time to get Puck’s bed ready for the night. He was to have a tent in ‘Onion’s’ room, which was a new adventure for the little fellow.
Once he was in snoozeland, it was eight o’clock, and a quiet evening for the three girls, reminiscing and watching Tales from Avonlea.
