A Farewell to Maria and to New Teeth

Sunday, January 29, 2006

[7:10pm] It was another Sunday morning in the nursery for Collette, along with Mom and the Grandparent Hobcoggins. It was also the Welches’ last day at Grace – the last day for little Maria to light up the church with her smiles and funny way of putting things.

There was youth that day with Ecclesiastes and OLeif leading music, Jimmy, Collette, Joe (who arrived late from a bike ride with Wally), Magnus, Boy, Susie, Rose, and Molly. And Steak ‘n Shake afterwards for Mrs. McCrae, Jimmy, OLeif, Collette, Joe, Magnus, Rose, and Molly, and Collette found herself becoming increasingly sleepy – likely a good preparation for her surgery the next day.

Dad also called from Australia at about 5:23 Monday morning his time (12:23 Sunday afternoon their time), to say that he had spent Sunday afternoon with the Moss’ over barbecued lamb and he had met Apple’s new husband. Elazar was, of course, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro at that time.

And that evening, Rose recommended that Collette say a last farewell to her three teeth.

It was red and yellow and green and brown
And scarlet and black and ocher and peach
And ruby and olive and violet and fawn
And lilac and gold and chocolate and mauve
And cream and crimson and silver and rose
And azure and lemon and russet and grey
And purple and white and pink and orange
And blue”
