A Friday

Friday, January 9, 2009

Friday began with Carrie-Bri purging her room of no longer wanted items, including a mixing bowl full of jewelry. Puck was excited about another opportunity to rummage, and joined his Aunt Rose in examining the products up for grabs.
Mom had left a plate of waffles, and apples and oranges on the kitchen counter for whoever felt so inclined to eat breakfast. Breakfasts always had been, and so continued to be, mostly optional for Collette. A bad habit, and hard to kick. Nevertheless, Collette ate one set of waffles that morning.
Meanwhile, Carrie had been hired to cook healthy meals specifically for Mom, week to week. So they took a quick jaunt to the grocery store for supplies. They returned with bags of lemons and kiwis, grapefruits, bananas, sunflower seeds, and other healthy things.
After Puck’s nap, most everyone toted themselves off to a nearby church gym where Collette helped Francis and Linnea practice basketball for the spring season. Puck happily ran around chasing large rubber bouncing balls, and cried when it was time to leave.
And Carrie’s Dr. Who scarf was beginning to grow very long. Her fingers were almost cramping from the exertion of knitting so much in such a short amount of time.
