A Pink Butterfly

Friday afternoon, Yali found a fat green Polyphemus moth caterpillar hanging out on the picnic table. We temporarily re-housed him to a glass jar. Saturday morning, Yali expressed concern for his new friend…

“Mom, the caterpillar needs your help.”

“Why does he need my help?”

“Because he wants to be a pink butterfly. Not a moth.”

“So he’s having an identity crisis?”

“Yes.”

“Why does he want to be a pink butterfly?”

“Because he wants to play with his pink butterfly friends.”
