A Revisit of the Second Attempt
Friday, July 14, 2006
After a solid six hours of sleep, Collette spent an entirely frustrating day at the church office which also included being engulfed with ill-functioning picnic factions, news of Megan having fainted at her internship at Boeing right as Ivy and Nicodemus were leaving for the game (with $40 seats), the arrival of a new janitorial staff, word from Judah that the daughter of Grace’s old music director had just been engaged to a Scotsman, mishaps with missing stamps, etc.
She then commuted herself with OLeif to the last performance of the second rendition of “Giddy’ap Gideon” where the red-headed yodeler took Paige Popp’s old part, Izzy played the part that Mr. Sing’s son once held, a dark girl with a fantastic smile held Kitts’, Starr more or less received Carrie’s old lines, and the brilliant little Kreckles took Old Blue’s – Gideon. A good bunch of the old crew was there in the audience as well, and an amazingly deafening crash of sound greeted the waiters at Steak ‘n Shake with their arrival following the performance, as usual. Collette was pleased to have a much quieter table with Magnus, Rose, and Molly, where sketches were sketched, chats were chatted, and sodas were sipped.
