A Third Storm

Events of the day…

Collette worked the nursery again, holding little Hesed for the better part of it, who was in the processing of teething. And one of the other nursery workers had somehow managed to still arrive in her pneumatic condition with her husband and twin boys and briefly tell of her upcoming week in London in March.

Financial matters at the annual congregational meeting: things never seemed to look well in January, and seemed particularly dire that year.

“Well, I’ll be the first to go,” Henri had said earlier.
Poor fellow…

And it was Joe’s last day at the Green Lantern…

“So did they make you turn in your uniform?” Dad asked him.
“Yup,” Joe replied. “I had to walk home in my underwear.”

‘Bad weather’ was expected beginning that night. Half an inch of ice on Monday and then up to sixteen inches of snow between Tuesday and Wednesday. And even a possibility of ‘thunder snow’, which promised some excitement.

Rose had received a hand-written passage from Psalms, accompanied by doodling, in her box at church, which was a bit of a mystery…

And the girls were still obsessed with Jeeves & Wooster.

During lunch of Little Caesar’s — yes, things were back to normal — the kids watched How to Train Your Dragon.

In the afternoon, Mom, Collette, and Carrie-Bri were preparing to leave for the grocery store to stock up before the winter apocalypse. All of the bunched bananas were gone. Collette was reduced to digging through a small basket of single bananas for six of the last remaining. The bunches of grapes were also highly picked over. But so were the restaurant gift cards. Something didn’t line up…

Back at the house…
Dad gave a presentation to Collette and Carrie-Bri for upcoming contract-hunting, etc. Research would begin immediately.
Joe escorted Francis to youth group.
Rose was considering joining friends from church for the evening before the ice began.
And everyone was busy with Planet Earth around Carrie listening to 1930’s ditties.

Back to the house where OLeif and Puck had finished their nightly reading selection and had transferred to Little House in the Big Woods.
