It was a busy day for almost everyone.
After the new tire on Dad’s car popped, Mom dropped him off at work. After Joe returned from class, he and Mom got the car in for a new tire. After Joe left for work, and Carrie dropped off Rose at work, Mom picked up the car with the new tire.
While Puck napped, Collette and Carrie drove to Target for honey highlights for Carrie, a purple sweater dress, a box of packets to burn colored flames on the bonfire, and a bag of various Reeses candies for Linnea, Cherry, and Eleda (who were spending the night). When they returned, Carrie left to pick up Rose from work, after she and Collette advised Mom on what to wear to the rehearsal dinner at an Italian bar and grill after she picked up Dad from work. Then Collette piled Francis, Linnea, and Puck into the car, picked up Creole, and dropped him off, with Francis, at
Puff ‘o Lump’s house. After returning again, Collette waited around the house while Cherry and Eleda were dropped off,
until Carrie and Rose returned. So, while Rose left to entertain herself with the Tecumsehs, Joe returned from work and then left again to purchase pants for the wedding, Carrie baked cookies for the girls, helped them set up for the night in the travel trailer, and supervised their s’mores and bonfire. And OLeif had a photo shoot that night at work.
It was an interesting shuffle of events, which somehow also included Portuguese for Linnea and algebra for Francis.
And most of the morning, Puck had happily played in the travel trailer with Linnea. The windows were open to the cool breezes, and they played with brightly colored plastic connect-it toys on the floor.
“Ma ma!” Puck cried delightedly, when he saw Collette walk up to the screen door.
It was becoming one of his favorite words; he enjoyed forming his mouth around the “m” sound. And usually, after calling for her,
he gave out a happy kiss, trying not to smile too much, for fear of losing some of his machoness.
