All her lovely companions...

Another Sunday of blue clouds under melting gold. There was something comforting about a gray day in the fall.
Meanwhile, Rose had instead decided to try out an application for Walgreens. Collette saw her filling it out on the computer during the Lost marathon the day before while Frances was hopping up and down in anticipation for his computer turn.
“Rose, can’t you let Frances get on now?” Collette asked her.
“I’m busy, we’re all busy,” Rose said, not turning away from the screen.
That was Rose’s usual response.
During the worship service that Sunday morning, Collette noticed a spider drag, what appeared to be a button (but likely was not), underneath the chair in front of her to his abode.
She also had to remind Frances to stop drawing machine guns while Sinai preached.
Afterwards, there were cookies (including Mom’s shortbread) and lemonade for the visitors. Collette took a few herself and met Ivy around the corner in the hallway wearing a plastic cast around her right leg.
“Stress fracture,” she said. “Everyone thinks I got it hiking. But maybe I should tell them Nicodemus pushed me down the mountain.”
The cause had been the cord box of her blow dryer, which had landed squarely on her foot. Somehow she had still managed to hike in Colorado before seeing the doctor four days after their return to St. Louis.
Back on the home front, there was stew and rolls for lunch over the usual banter, followed by more Lost, seeing as the crew was addicted to it by then.
But first, OLeif had read a chapter of Nancy Drew to Linnea, making all of the voices – operatically high voices for all of the girls and great booming bellowings for all of the guys.
“Thank you, OLeif,” Linnea said after he had finished. “That was very… interesting.”
Meanwhile, Carrie was preparing to sell her leather jackets on eBay. Joe had been invited by Wallace to see “some French pianist chick… or maybe Russian”, but had opted not to go. So OLeif, Joe, and Rose carted themselves off to youth group for the evening.
Before leaving, Mom gave Collette a little blinking jack ‘o lantern for the apartment.
“Now, I hope this isn’t too creepy for you,” Mom said to OLeif as he watched it flash.
OLeif laughed. The little fella’s near toothless grin shone back happily at them.
Later, back home, OLeif and Collette made drop biscuits and hot cocoa over another two episodes of Lost.
