And in the Spotlight Tonight

Puck was hiding in the living from a rogue moth inside the table lamp.
“The moth! The moth!” he shuddered.

Theodore and Gloria were meeting a client, so their paths couldn’t cross conveniently for more than a few minutes the day. Although there was baked chicken in the oven which they used for fajitas, cold pomegranate juice, and Cracker Jack for Puck.

Carrie was waiting at the house to splice away a year’s worth of OLeif’s hair with a green Playschool scissors. This was effective, of course. And OLeif was looking very much pruned again. They were out the door shortly later in the rain with a Spanish cheesecake to meet up with Rose at church…

Thud, thud, thud, thud, thud.
Children’s Church always let out right before communion. Somehow only four children pounding down the aisles, echoed like 40. Dr. Wintershine was beginning the presentation of the table. Puck careened around the right corner of the sanctuary, winging out to the front, looking confused about which way to go. He stopped in front of the communion table.
“It’s alright, buddy,” Dr. Wintershine told him. “Go ahead and find your Mommy and Daddy.”
Puck held up a Bible coloring page which he had scribbled almost entirely in green. Dr. Wintershine leaned forward over the bread to examine it…
“Wow! Isn’t that cool!”
– He took the colored page from him and held it up for the congregation to see. –
“Isn’t that a nice job?”
The congregation applauded, as a little curly-haired girl also came forward with her own coloring picture, and then Dr. Wintershine continued…
“It’s ok; we’re all family here.”
He then began to tie the experience into the communion table.
When Puck was asked later if he had enjoyed Children’s Church, he responded…
“I didn’t sing with them, because I didn’t understand their language.”
And wouldn’t it just happen that during the potluck, Tilly Spaulding, would call the attention of the room to ask…
“We just have to know who made this amazing dessert… Carrie? Carrie Snicketts?”
“Hey, Carrie, there’s an extra seat over here at our table.”
