And the Season Continues

In which things happen and things happen…
So the week was on a regular roll.
Back on the ranch…
As Collette got down to business with Linnea, who was busy thinking about future careers in chiropractory and specialized cake toppers, Dad was on his eleventh donut of the week. Sometimes…
“Linnea, stop doodling jellyfish.”
Rose had a new haircut, a short haircut, though she was already at work and the results could not be seen.
Linnea had dragged out a pouch of Hallowe’en grub, spilling over with king-sized candy bars, mini sodas, and bags of kettle corn.
There was also a little baseball talk mixed in with the algebra, including the line-up of players walk-up songs, that included Lance Berkman’s selection of Johnny Cash’s God’s Gonna Cut You Down.
Mom, Carrie-Bri, and Puck returned from Costco with a Sports Illustrated 2011 Commemorative Edition of the Cardinals.
Another visit to church for the usual uproar of thirteen children confined to a small space with enough energy to send a hand-sized rocket to the moon. And googly eyes.
That evening, Puck was tucked into bed with a string of the usual prayers and a few additional comments…
“Please send the rain because the plants are starting to wilt. And make sure no bad men break through the door with shovels and stuff…”
Rain was due in after eleven…
“OLeif, would you open the curtain, see if it’s raining?”:
“I can’t. I’m afraid of zombies. Tiny, very tiny zombies, falling from the sky.”
