April 17

Linnea, Collette, and Puck sat on the front porch talking about colors and near death experiences while Frances mowed the lawn.
Carrie’s gold shoes had just arrived in the mail.
“I can’t believe they’re here already,” she said. “I just ordered them last night. I bought them to spite the government for only giving me a hundred dollars back on my tax return.”
She pulled them out of the box. Metallic gold with a bright shine.
“Oooooooh,” she said. “I’m going to have to be careful not to scuff them.”
“Maybe you should only wear them on special occasions,” Collette told her.
Carrie carefully wore them to Costco.
“Cool shoes,” the checker told her.
