Somewhere in the middle of the night, Collette dreamt about running from an abnormally enormous amount of tornadoes near the English’s old house.

In the morning, the sun was shining, and it was time to take Puck to his three year-old check-up. Linnea came along for the ride.

I’m gonna see Dr. Box?” Puck asked as they waited for him to arrive.

And Puck did a dandy job. He also requested a bandage for Donkey, who had a scratch. And Dr. Box let him pick from an assortment of colored Band-Aids. Puck chose a bright yellow one and let his mama put it on Donkey’s back where there was, indeed, some sort of blotch.

Puck was looking pretty grand. He had his blood pressure taken for the first time, which he thought was a rather interesting procedure. And then, the statistics:

  1. Weight: 36.5 lbs., in the 89th percentile

  2. Height: 39”, in the 80th percentile

Following everything, Puck had been given a Wall-E sticker, a Donkey sticker, and then Collette treated the two of them to Walgreen’s to pick out a snack for the late morning. Puck immediately went for a little Lunchable pack, and Linnea: a package of tiny chocolate donuts and chocolate milk. Then back to the house for a viewing of the Magic School Bus, travels in outer space series.

The afternoon was reserved for another adventure for Puck, who held carefully on to his mama’s index finger as he followed her and his grandma through the mall while Francis and Linnea were busy with choir. There were a variety of stops, which included sampling spring fragrances, looking into a longer hose for the refrigerator water filter, and even a very special stop by Pretzel Time. Collette hadn’t had pretzel bites and cheese dip from that place in many a moon. And it was good. It was sort of a day for treats.

Then home to read of Owl and Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain, Puck’s new Bible, a bowl of frozen blueberries for the chubbing, and some quiet cool evening breezes through an open window… while OLeif was with the guys down in the city.
