Cool days. It was feeling more like spring instead of summer, as it ought.
Over at the house…
-
After class, Joe was scheduled to meet a buddy from work at the driving range.
-
Francis was finishing his last paper of the year, written on the topic of Israeli zealots, before Creole came over under gray skies to sputter out in the go-cart to the neighbor’s house.
-
Linnea and Puck were very busy painting the bird house Mom had bought for Puck.
-
Mom made buttered toast for Linnea and Puck as a mid-morning snack. “My favorite!” Puck said happily. There were also pears, three of which Puck was found to have sampled before finding the ‘perfect’ one.
-
In the afternoon, Linnea was off for her usual gymnastics and youth group, Mandarin with her at both.
-
And Francis had opted not to join the Jamaica youth missions trip, but instead, to focus on Boy Scout summer camp.
Collette and Puck returned home in the middle of the afternoon to jog, wash two boxes of baby clothes, prepare chicken fajitas (which OLeif later, as was his wont, lovingly doctored with olive oil, paprika, green pepper, and onion, which was very good), and to prepare for their new Wednesday night family worship with OLeif when he returned from work. All that, while Puck spent an hour playing with a collection of clean dishes in the sink (after he had unintentionally dumped over a canister of OLeif’s coffee grounds.)
And the air was still not quite cold, but green and rain-hopeful.
Meanwhile, Puck was very happy with the installation of his new desk and chair in the library. OLeif had even rigged up an old keyboard for him to use as his computer.
Collette walked into the library that afternoon to see him punching on the keyboard. Then he turned to her and said, ‘I need a bigger monitor, Mama.’
That evening, while OLeif went out to church, Collette listened to John Piper at the ‘Together for the Gospel Conference’.
And Theodore and Gloria were in Tennessee, visiting with Curly.
