On St. George’s Day… it was a gorgeous morning, the wind through the ruffle of dark green trees under skies fresh with last night’s rain… a gray sea.
Over at the house, Carrie was busy making fresh apple juice, which Puck liked very much.
Meanwhile, an enormous line of thunderstorms was building in the west.
“I just don’t get it,” said Francis, studying the radar. “Every time. Every time. It hits everything around us. Except us.”
“Yeah,” Joe agreed, looking over his own radar. “It’s too far north.”
“I want some good thunderstorms,” said Francis. “Why does it always miss us?”
“I made it do that,” said Carrie-Bri, walking into the room.
At 11:20, the first crack of thunder rumbled in the west.
After all the mathematics and Portuguese had been done for the day…
-
Mom and Linnea departed for Klondike for the afternoon for Eleda’s birthday party.
-
Collette dropped off Francis at Creole’s house for biking. They discussed vegetarianism in light of the New Testament and Heaven on the ride over, while Francis kept an eye on the billowing dark gray clouds in the sky.
-
Carrie and Puck made chocolate cookies with honey together.
-
Dad and Joe looked at tires for one of the vehicles.
-
After work, Rose came over to work on a preliminary grad school essay for Leicester University in England, which may, or may not have included the phrase, ‘Good day, jolly old blokes’.
-
OLeif met with Alfonso, who was starting a new job…
-
Mom and Dad left later in the evening for a date to one of their favorite’s: Outback.
-
And there were tornado warnings just north, likely to Francis’ enormous delight.
In other news…
-
Francis had just become a Life Scout.
-
And Collette discovered the names of Puck’s two fourth cousins, the youngest of whom was not quite three weeks old, and her middle name was ‘Rain’.
