April 6
By Sunday morning, Collette really was feeling poorly. Bad cold and a sore eye. Puck seemed to have the same cold, but was faring better than Collette.
“Babies bounce,” said OLeif. “They recover faster.”
It was a long day. Collette and Puck stayed home from church.
Later, OLeif came back with groceries, including: deli-sliced chicken, pita, cucumbers, tomatoes, and baked potato chips for lunch. Collette had brought more cucumbers and tomatoes into their diet since returning from Israel. Toasted baguette topped with chopped cucumbers, tomatoes, and cabbage in a very light dressing with lentil soup. Then for Friday night, while they watched Star Wars Episodes I & II on television, OLeif wrapped up cucumbers, tomatoes, cabbage, strawberries, basil, fried cheese, and dressing in tomato basil tortillas. It was better eating fresh things, Collette had concluded.
Shortly after one o’clock, OLeif had left again. He had been commissioned for a photo shoot for a friend from work. He and his buddies had put together a small clothing line and needed photographs of the collection of tops for their website. The shoot involved twelve models. They even requested permission to borrow Francis’ airsoft guns for props.
“We’ll see how it goes,” said OLeif. “I’ve never shot anything like this before.”
By Sunday afternoon, Puck was feeling lively enough to scatter a large load of laundry (waiting to be taken to the basement) all over the kitchen floor.
OLeif had bought a box of Method Green Mint Bloq Soap. Puck entertained himself for a full twenty minutes, removing the soap from the polka-dotted box, putting it back in, taking it out, and closing up the box again. He had learned another skill.
He also shared half a bag of dried banana chips with Collette.
