August 11th
Francis and Linnea spent another morning over with Collette and Puck.
Francis chopped up piles of branches in the backyard and burned the little ones in the fire grate.
And Mom returned from Bible study to bring them back home, trying to get everything ready before leaving for Colorado on Thursday morning.
That afternoon, the air was warm. So Collette filled up a large Tupperware box with cold water from the hose, and Puck spent a long, very happy time playing in it with measuring spoons and cups, and watering the roses.
The ice cream truck drove slowly down the road, clanging its bell and playing summer tunes. And they were generally bit up by ‘bad bugs’, but not too badly.
And soon, they washed out the tub and returned indoors to put together fish tacos with Trader Joe’s handmade tortillas in time for dinner.
While Collette worked in the kitchen, Puck pulled all of the blankets and pillow out of his crib to make a nest in the living room.
“I make Bullseye comfy,” he said, with the biggest grin. “I make Donkey comfy.”
Puck had been taught, by Francis, how to have his nose (aka ‘thumb’) removed, wiggling around, and then replaced. He and OLeif played at this for awhile.
“Take Mama’s nose,” Puck instructed. “Take Puck’s nose. Put ’em back your nose now.”
And OLeif made sopaipillas for dessert before driving over to the Silverspoon’s to practice music with Curly for Saturday night at the coffee house.
