Back to Normal

Back to the week.

And, naturally, the news from the weekend had been the 8.8 earthquake in Chile, sending further tremors and tsunami warnings into the South Pacific. Fortunately, the devastation did not seem, yet, as horrific as it had been in Haiti. And the quakes had been, reportedly, unrelated to one another.

Over at the house on another gray late winter day…

  1. Puck and Linnea were busy talking about cats. Puck had decided that he wanted an orange cat that he would name ‘Very Big’. Or ‘Really Really Really Big…. Really!

  2. He then got himself busy practicing some aerobics with his three aunts in the living room.

  3. Carrie whipped up a batch of St. Louis-created Mayfair salad dressing to go with lunch.

  4. Mom went out for a haircut.

  5. Joe was taking it easy, trying to stay off his feet after his hip had been further irritated by his most recent bike crash.

  6. And Grandma Combs arrived to spend the night, bringing a bag of green M’nMs, her new pop-up lighthouse book from Lucia, swimming goggles for Linnea, and another folding cube (in anime) for Puck.

That evening, it was time for a family outing to pick up groceries, and then around the dinner table for tortellini, with Puck stuffed into his red footies for the night.

He was then ready for his nightly bedtime song, sung by OLeif and Collette. And, as usual, he requested it on his own.

Sing ‘I Know’ Daddy! Sing ‘I Know’, Mama!”

And so they did.
