Before the Rain

Thursday, May 7, 2009

Collette and Puck were home for the day. Puck amused himself with his five miniature “fatties” on the kitchen floor, setting up houses of napkin rings (which he called “chairs”) for them on the linoleum.
“Honey!” he cried at them, every time they fell out.
Rose dropped in for turkey sandwiches for lunch. She was wearing her dark blue and yellow silk flowers dress over a pair of jeans with white flip-flops and the amber glass earrings that Mom and Dad had brought back for Carrie from Venice.
“Oh, you look nice,” Collette told her. “Did Carrie dress you today?”
“Thanks. Yes…” she replied with a wrinkle of her nose. “And now everyone’s like, ‘Oh, Rose is going on a date today?’”
Not long after this, Mom, Carrie, and the kids came over for Francis to mow the lawn, before the rain came in. He also seeded it while Puck played with his giant rubber ball which Rose had given him from her last Kids Choir party.
After work, Rose arrived for Home Run pizza and catching up on more Doctor Who before the others arrived with Oreo Cakesters, Chips Ahoy!, and Arizona green tea in the warm evening.
