Before the Rain

“This is a dragon and he has chicken spots,” Puck explained over his breakfast oatmeal, smashing the black marker all over the green foam dinosaur from Sunday.

It was the first time in a long while that Collette hadn’t been slammed with the “To Do List”. It was a little weird.
Puck had found the panel of return address stickers sent to Collette by March of Dimes. He thought about this for awhile, remembering, sort of, what OLeif had explained to him about it earlier…
“What are these stickers for?”
“To put on letters,” Collette replied.
“And they send heroes to help the babies go back in their mama’s tummies.”
Meanwhile, OLeif was meeting one of his professors for lunch.
And Puck worked on inventions.

At dinner, Collette managed to snap another spatula in half. The Pampered Chef had been the first to go. Oneida followed. Only one left now. All that five pound weight pumping.
Puck was watching some aerial arts in progress.
“I want to do that when I grow up!” he declared joyfully.
“I thought you wanted to play for the Cardinals.”
“I do! After that!”

As Collette prepared Puck for the night, Collette called him “her jewel”. Puck wasn’t sure what to think about this…
“But I don’t even look like a jewel. I’m not a necklace…”

OLeif returned later in the evening after having attended a small going-away see-off for a fellow co-worker. He baked up some chocolate chip oatmeal cookies as the rain prepared to come in.
