Blooms & Rain

In which an unexpected delivery arrives and the clouds are just the right mix of summer-autumn…

A barreling line of storms sliced through the radar that morning…
“I don’t know why Jesus sends a big storm after us, every time!” said Puck.
After a wave-off to his dad, Puck got busy with the usual business of the day… ‘puters, lawp-tops, ‘important documents’, collecting boxes, one of which read, in his opinion… ‘Number One Son’.

Some check-in calls…
Mom and Francis were at the Social Security Office. Apparently, Francis had lost his passport, Social Security card, and birth certificate. All those Boy Scout events: required documents for releases, etc.

Knock-knock.
In the Snicketts tradition, Collette froze Puck to wait until whoever was at the front door, had left.
Two minutes later, she saw the box on the stoop and opened the door.
Pro Flowers.
A little bit too late for secret admirers…
It was Sinai. He had sent a dozen roses in red, yellow, pink, lavender, and cream, in thanks for working at the office over the summer. Very kind. And beautiful on the kitchen table. Puck had appreciative thoughts as well…
“They’re so beautiful and squishy. I can love them and fluff them into a nice, soft burrito. And this flower is my best flower of all. They are all the colors in the world. Oh, where’s green? Oh there. In the leaves. I realize there’s honeysuckle in flowers. There’s honeysuckle in their tummies. I like to squish them when they’re so cute…”
Influence of the aunts?…

At lunch, mango. Puck wasn’t so certain he wanted to complete it.
“Mango, aren’t you happier you’re going into Daddy’s tummy?”

In the afternoon, the rain.
A little of it.
As usual, the storm had dissipated before St. Louis-arrival.
But it was something anyway.

Another bad sinus headache to top off the evening.
A look-see into the Mormons’ belief of the afterlife.
And Joe had returned home by five o’clock.
