Buble, Circus Peanuts, & Windmills
Sunday, June 19, 2005
Father’s Day – Joe left for Scout Camp that morning and Rose began her second week in Kansas City. Dad made it big with the gifts over chicken casserole for lunch – including a special candy stash from Francis and Linnea (including circus peanuts, lemon drops, and Whoppers), the Michael Buble t-shirt from Carrie, and the “Man of La Mancha” front-row tickets from Collette and OLeif.
Mom called them later that night after the show to say what a fabulous production it had been – windmills and everything. And Theodore, though in Kansas City with Denae for the day, received two cigars from the Tinderbox, left on the kitchen table.
Meanwhile, at church, OLeif asked the children:
“What is a hymn?”
Eli Lily answered almost immediately:
“It’s a boy.”
At the house, Linnea tied dental floss to the lamp to use for Lego machines, Dad brought back Culver’s custard for everyone, and Shammy ate Linnea’s hair.
Meanwhile, during a brief viewing of Celtic Women before “Road to Morocco”, Carrie (who was not exactly inclined to enjoy the voice of a soprano), told the television to shut-up. And it did, but only momentarily.
Meanwhile, Carrie “completed” all the thank you notes from her graduation on brightly colored note cards with vibrant matching envelopes. And Father’s Day passed on, rather uneventfully, which was how Dad liked things.
