Busting out the Moves

Collette received word Thursday morning that OLeif, who had been feeling quite sick the night before, was feeling much better. Mom told Collette that Joe had phoned her early that morning saying:

Hello, this is Jimmy. I regret to inform you, that Joe has broken his leg. He is in the hospital and it looks pretty bad. They’re going to have to operate.”

Nice try, buddy,” Mom laughed back at him, and he resumed himself as Joe.

Meanwhile, Diana, Collette, Carrie-Bri, and Eve were heading off to their annual Botanical Gardens summer visit together.

All in all, Wednesday was a sight to behold. The evening began with Collette and Carrie-Bri driving over to the English house in the green green forests. And for the first several hours they tripped over to the grocery store in the sweltering sweatiness for supplies to make wraps and fruit pizza over a half-hearted game of Scrabble. But just as they were ready to eat, the skies dramatically darkened, a swirling vortex of winds and lightening and flying acorns shrewed with all the fury of Shermann through the woods, smack-downing birds and flying things and turning the woods into an Amazon jungle of a riverous downpour. The next morning they learned that they had been engulfed in the worst storm St. Louis had ever seen, with destruction of ancient Candy factories and old trees in Tower Grove Park. (Collette found it interesting that they had canceled their plans to visit the Botanical Gardens for the evening, even prior to having any idea whatsoever that storms were expected.) Carrie even received an acorn smack in the eye for lying on her back on the car watching the fury perform. The next morning, a state of emergency was declared for the city of St. Louis and the National Guard was shipped in to aid.

However, there was a sudden inspiration for the four girls to make a dance video, after watching clips of Eve’s latest performance for TFC Camp in Numa Numa. And so, for the rest of the evening, from 8:30pm to 1:30 in the morning, the four girls busted some sweet moves dancing to OkGo’s smash hit: A Million Ways to be Cruel. So sweet were these moves, that they decided to enter themselves in OkGo’s dance contest, to film and submit for consideration, crying from laughter. And before falling asleep at two a.m., they watched the premier performance of the Joe-Wallace-Annamaria-Curly-Rose-Lollipop-Ariel-Starr-Tor knock-off of Princess Diaries (some of which they had accidentally recorded over) while sharing some secrets and dissecting their groove and rhythm in the sure-to-beat-the-best music video.

Thursday morning commenced with the usual donuts (this time, courtesy of Rosemary) and Ivy discussing the cats and their cuddle-factor and how Joy enjoyed marshmallows and spaghetti. Sasha had come also with her mom before her Mystery Party, where she would be serving chocolate covered strawberries.

And in other brilliant news, OLeif sent word that the kids would be cruising the bayous that afternoon and were potentially conspiring to shave his head. Also, Diana was to have a phone interview for the Naperville Daily the next morning at 9:00am for an internship; she was riding a fluffy cloud in silver lining that afternoon which would certainly prove to power their next dance rehearsal with adrenaline that evening.
