Carrie's Creations

In the world of the news – The pope’s funeral was scheduled for Friday in the Vatican. Prince Charles’ second wedding ceremony was re-set for Saturday as a result of the funeral. The prince of Monaco had also died, in his eighties. And the Space Shuttle Discovery was on its launch-pad ready for take-off. But Collette was more concerned for other matters.
Carrie had been working on great madrigal creations Wednesday afternoon. There were gypsy sticks – wooden rods, the right size for carrying, painted gold, dark red ribbon wound around to the top (like a carousel rod), and a jangle of gold bells at the end. At the top, perched a golden ball with pansies of all colors – iris, orange, dark pink, and Kelly green, fastened tightly, and little coils of gold ribbon. And strands of green, blue, and gold ribbon hung in flutters from the ball itself. They were quite fantastic.
