Coins and Slushies

Collette and Puck took a walk down the road in the cool of the morning. Puck shouted out to every orange basketball lying in various neighbors’ yards. He found a green leaf and picked it up, blowing on it to watch it flutter. Life was good for little chub-chub.
Over at the house, Puck was trying to be what he usually enjoyed being: a refrigerator raider.
“The forbidden chamber!” Francis exclaimed with an echo effect, closing the fridge door.
Puck pounded off grumpily to rummage through a box of tea bags, until Francis chased him down to share a pretzel.
Later, while Collette worked with Francis on his algebra, Linnea hoisted herself up on the kitchen counter. She was busy with a Rose-made pottery bank, which had no opening but for the top slit. So Linnea, unwilling to smash Rose’s hard work, was obliged to clip out pennies and dimes with a scissors to count the amount once the bank was full.
When Puck had woken from his nap, Mom, Carrie, and Rose were already out, so Collette drove Francis over to Puff ‘o Lump’s with Linnea and Puck, snuggling with his gorilla, in the back seat. Before returning to the house, Collette made a welcome stop at QT for Linnea to spend one of her dollars on a 44-ouncer of white cherry slushie.
