Cowboy Puck
That morning, the house still smelled of oil, from the deep-fried samosas, potatoes, and beef. Collette, Sunday night, could hardly keep her eyes open from the excessive oil in the air. It was worse than when slicing onions.
Monday, Puck marched around the house in his snow boats, a new favorite piece of his collection of favorite things, watching his feet as he walked, or ran, about. Sometimes he stomped in fast circles through the dining room and the living room, happily being chased by the dog.
At some point in the afternoon, Puck believed himself to be a cowboy, after Carrie-Bri had set her old pink cowboy hat on his head. He continued his swagger through the house, listening to the jangle of his spurs (a.k.a. zippers).
Meanwhile, the Pies were returning from Iowa for a few days to pack up their house. This meant that Cherry, Eleda, and Linnea were going to have a (no doubt very loud) slumber party that night together after Mom had picked up several treats from the grocery store. This likely included one of their favorites — mint chocolate chip ice cream.
