Day 2 : Jupiter
Back in “balmy” Florida meant standing – shivering – next to Carrie-Bri in “standing room only” for the first six innings of a match-up against the Twins that Thursday afternoon. And still somehow managing to contract a pretty decent sunburn despite the cold breeze. Randal Grichuk with the game winning hit in the 9th ensured a victory on the field for the young club of red shirts, and one happy grandma in a red cast embellished with palm trees and baseballs as we returned to the parking garage several hours later.
Dinner at Howley’s just before sunset, a 1950’s hipster diner across the street from the park with those giant root-tangled trees. Two years later, and not much had changed in those parts. Mom and Grandma lingered a little longer for pie while Holly and I walked around the little league games in the park. Chilly.
