December 9

The morning was rose and violet-silver. Cold, but not so cold that one felt like shivering under the covers for another hour until the sun came up. 40 predicted for the high.
During breakfast, OLeif attempted to crack a combination lock for Puck. Puck was very excited.
“Daddy figured it out!” he called out happily to Collette. “Easy peasy!”
And he gave a big thumbs up with a huge grin.
Then the morning continued with Bing Crosby, Puck painting little thank you cards for all of his Sunday School and church teachers, and Puck gobbling Swedish fish.
Following lunch…
Puck jumped onto Collette, sitting on the couch.
“Careful, dude,” she told him. “You might break my bones.”
“Would you break into pieces and not talk again?”
Not long later, Collette caught him in the act of tugging at the curtains in the living room.
“But, Mama! I want to swing across!”
At the usual 12:42 or so, Luke arrived for his final Thursday afternoon of the year. Leia had another cold. And there was a Christmas gift for Puck from Luke: a Thomas the Tank Engine puzzle, which they put together for the first forty minutes of the afternoon.
Around bath time, Puck was displaying a large red rash all over his stomach and upper legs. It was guessable as to why. But the little fellow didn’t seem to mind it much and progressed with his usual activities.
And OLeif did what he should not have done and brought back mozzarella bites and Oreo candy cane cookies. And a dumb movie.
