Departings

Sunday, July 20, 2008

OLeif, Joe, and Rose were gone for the week to Welch, West Virginia on the church youth mission trip. OLeif and Joe as leaders. Rose as a student. They left after the second church service.
Dad was headed back up to Iowa for work that week.
The day was incredibly hot. Linnea spent part of her afternoon in the neighbor’s kiddie pool before Cecil Whittaker’s pizza for lunch. Forecasts had the temperatures up to 96. So while still not as bad as August, July was beginning to cook.
It would just be Collette and Puck at home that week. And so began the second and third of many departings over the next six weeks.
Collette and Puck enjoyed pork chops and I Love Lucy with Mom, Frances, and Linnea before they returned home for Linnea to spend the night with them.
Puck was learning to adapt his bedtime without his daddy for the week. It was a difficult adjustment.
