Thursday passed quickly with cleaning, packing for the weekend at the Silverspoon’s, quesadillas for lunch, questions from Puck (i.e.)…
“What would happen if lightening touched the sun?”
…who sat at the window with his spyglass, waiting for the arrival of Luke and Leia at one o’clock, followed shortly later by Linnea-Irish with the fishing game and a tupperware of Carrie’s fudge-iced brownie cookies… or something like that.
When Luke and Leia departed for the day, everyone else piled in Mom’s Fit for Costco after dropping off Collette and Puck at an empty Silverspoon house to care after the animals for a few days. On the ride over, Puck had thoughts…
“Sun? Could I tell you something about my life?”
“Sure, baby. What is it?”
“When I was a baby… I had a bouncer.”
“Did it bounce around your brains?”
“No,” Puck giggled.
Gloria had left a roast in the slow cooker, so there was a second round of quesadillas for dinner, just for the heck of it, bananas, grapes – Puck could be seen peddling around the kitchen on his trike with a fistful of them – plus more Cracker Jack. And news that Izzy had won first place in a photo contest at school.
It was cold again.
The high for Saturday was predicted at 25.
The evening ended with Beatrix Potter, lemon squares, genealogies, and a little Austen. Puck fell asleep with Snickers curled up beside him on the bed.
