Diana Returns
That morning, while Collette was zipping up Puck’s jacket, Puck was being thoughtful.
“God,” he said carefully. “God. God. Where’s God?”
“God is everywhere,” Collette told him.
“God’s everywhere,” Puck repeated. “God’s everywhere.”
He continued to think about this for a moment.
“Francis’ everywhere,” he said.
“No, not Francis,” said Collette, trying not to laugh. “God is everywhere.”
“God’s everywhere… Daddy’s everywhere.”
“I’m in here, buddy!” OLeif called to him.
Over at the house, Joe had just returned from class, setting himself down to buttered raisin toast in the kitchen after turning up the Laura Ingraham Show. Lessons, work, class, etc.
And the rest of the day proceeded under cold grayness.
Diana was back in town again. It had been nine months since they had seen her, by far the longest stretch of time in her and Collette past 24 years of friendship. So, in celebration, they, with OLeif, Bing, and Carrie, were going out for sushi to catch up on everything that had happened in life.
Philadelphia rolls, California rolls, spider rolls, etc. spent mostly around a discussion and analysis of the concept of anarchy, free markets, etc.
The evening ended at 8:30, back into the bitter night.
