Discussions on All That
Thursday, April 20, 2006
That morning at work, Collette decided that Sinai reminded her of a full-grown Izzy, without the dull red hair, of course.
During the course of the morning, Ivy and Jimmy chatted over the Bible belt, church country, dry counties, and the influx of PCA churches in the past twenty years and the filtering out of mainline Presbyterianism in St. Louis. Isabella Swiss dropped by to leave orange and raspberry sherbet for the punch, potted sunset-colored flowers, and lace tablecloths for Evangeline’s wedding shower that Saturday in the hay barn. And then Sinai, Ivy, and Collette debated on the spelling of hors d’oeuvres, for Sinai’s letter to the new members. And later Ivy and Judah and Collette discussed the gifts of the Holy Spirit, baptism of the Spirit, etc.
There was also news of Bassanio-Ignace leaving for navy boot camp that coming Tuesday, April 25th. And the Canadians were moving as well in a matter of two weeks. Sad to see people go even when they weren’t very well known.
Later that afternoon, Bob B., Plato Buckle, and Goofy Nickels were out at Green Gables with Jimmy, to facilitate the drop-off of rummage sale items for the youth fundraiser. At one point Bob B. walked back to the office to show Judah his bandaged finger (having just freshly cut it on a window pane which shattered at Green Gables).
“But I’m a manly man,” he said, dismissing the incident with a flashing smile of his pearly whites. “Pain is weakness leaving the body!”
