Dum-Dum

Puck was given another crack at the dum-dums that morning. He would have continued inhaling the flavor had not Collette told Linnea to remove the candy after a few licks. After Linnea had rewrapped the sucker, Rose entered the room.
“Oh, let Rose see him lick it.”
Collette agreed. Linnea unwrapped the dum-dum.
Crinkle, crinkle.
Puck’s eyes perked up. Linnea held the dum-dum in the air in front of him. Puck began to laugh with both of his eyes glued to his latest interest. He continued to giggle until Linnea allowed him to lick it once more. The tears came after the dum-dum had been wrapped up and put away. And as with most babies, once he forgot why he was crying, he returned himself to being sunny and sleepy.
“He eats everything,” Carrie held him while he worked hard on his bottle of water. “Garbage disposal.”
In the afternoon, he sat in his pumpkin seat contemplating his stuffed gorilla from the Englishs which was sitting in his lap. He also thought this was funny and smiled at his gorilla.
