Eat Great Bread

Another day of teaching. And another cold gray day.
“Oooh,” said Carrie, sorting through the mail that afternoon. “Wonder who sent this to Joe?”
She pulled a purple envelope out of the stack. Neither she or Collette recognized the name on the return address.
“Where’s some lipstick?” Carrie asked.
Several moments later, she returned the card to the pile with a red lipstick kiss on the back of the envelope, a heart traced in black pen, and “XOXO” scrawled beneath it.
During Puck’s nap, he sat awake for part of it, singing about Dr. Who, crackers, and his Daduu.
Rose returned from Olga’s with a small black shirt for Puck which read:

Life is
Short;
Eat Great
Bread.

Meanwhile, Carrie was putting that motto to good use, albeit on a frozen Sara Lee pound cake. After consuming most of it, Collette helped her finish the last wedge. Pound cake and muffins — always Carrie’s weakness.
Once Puck had woken from his nap, he giggled with Linnea while they hid inside the pantry.
