Let go to this!” Puck giggled that morning.

This was basically his version of ‘Let go’, and was applied to many situations such as Trooper eating a forbidden toy, an inanimate object being stuck for some unexplainable reason, etc.

Over at the house, Puck helped Carrie make Hershey’s kiss cookies. After they had been pulled from the oven and he had more or less devoured his ration, Collette washed off his chocolate soul patch.

Later, Puck asked Francis for another cookie.

You already had one,” Francis told him.

Where is it?” Puck asked.

It’s in your tummy.”

Get it, Francis!” he cried, holding up his shirt.

Before lunch, Rose gave him a little seashell to hold to his ear.

I hear the baby ocean, Mama!” he called out happily.

Meanwhile, Rose was nearly finished with overhauling the basement. She had also repainted the bathroom. And she had commissioned Francis to carry up all the ancient junk and burn it in the backyard. The fire pit was soon engulfed in flame.

That evening, Puck stacked old spice jars into towers while Collette prepared dinner.
