February 10

The morning was for tossing things, giving things away, and preserving what was to remain.
And Puck, who was eternally fascinated with toss-aways, had found a broken silver chain in Collette’s jewelry box that he twirled in circles and other patterns on the linoleum which resembled a sort of disappearing act as the tail of it whisked away before he could catch it.
“How does it spin away, Mama?” he asked.
And Collette was happy to see a large pile set out for the trash and another to give away. It was sort of satisfying.

It was cold.
The kitchen windows were feathered in ice, and the snow still lay thick from the previous week.

The lunch hour arrived very quickly that particular morning, given the industrious activity of the hours.
Fried egg sandwiches.

After a month off, Luke and Leia had returned for their afternoon of hours with Puck.
It was the usual set-up.
Although this time, they had brought strawberry Rice Krispy treats, which were, of course, a hit.
Leia, who had suddenly exploded in vocabulary, did not know what else to call Collette for the first time, and so she quickly decided upon the name of ‘mom’, with a funny grin on her face. Collette began to remedy this dilemma, immediately.
Shaun the Sheep came in good hand toward the end of the three hours or so.
And Puck learned a little more about receiving hugs from Leia, which made him rather uncertain as to the whole situation at first.
“I love you, Leia,” he said, patting her on the back. “But it’s not time for you to go yet.”

Meanwhile…
OLeif and Joe had met up for lunch.
And Mom, Carrie-Bri, Rose, Francis, and Linnea-Irish had spent the day at Grandma Combs’ place and Waffle House for lunch.

Into the later afternoon…
Another jog. It had been awhile since Collette had managed one of those since her return from the south seas.
And Puck was busy in the art of killing spiders under his ‘mama’s bed’.
“I saw a big spider!” he declared, returning to the kitchen. “He was trying to be sneaky while you were sleeping with my friend Daddy.”
And so he returned to the attack, flailing a knife sharpener, which was little more than a metal rod.

OLeif returned at the decent hour of five o’clock.
And, because celebration was always in order for some purpose, although this one being far more significant because of the matter of the adoption in Colombia being approved… OLeif, at Rose’s suggestion, had picked up a midnight truffle blizzard for the evening.
