February 24

It was a sort of irritating day for the mini population of Snicketts and Silverspoon in various endeavors and such.

But there was always good company and many, many more Olympics to make up for it.

Meanwhile…

Mom was shipping off a load of no longer used clothing.

Collette helped Puck with watercolors while he wore Linnea’s old VBS camo t-shirt after dropping off the Civic for repairs.

Francis was working again, now that the snow was gone, sans Creole, who forgot to come…

And Linnea had another gymnastics session, eager for the possibility of competition. She later returned to type up a paper on Pompeii before leaving for youth group.

Come afternoon, Rose, feeling the edge of waiting for job confirmation, decided to tie up Pumpkin in her winter coat — one enormous black blob.

She then put a frilly white apron on Puck, much akin to a dress, and made playdough with him, which was the highlight of his day. Shortly later, after the two had mixed together a bowl of it on the kitchen floor, Rose dumped the mammoth ball of sun-yellow dough on the dining room table.

“Let’s make a face,” she said.

“You have deep eyeballs, monster!” Puck declared, after Rose had completed the creation. “Make the monster talk, Mama!”

And so Collette did.

“It looks like a moon,” she told him, as she helped make it a nose and ears.

When Carrie returned from coffee with Thor (who had also invited her to hear Gandhi’s grandson speak that evening), she showed Puck the prismatic bulb hanging in her window.

“Spots!” Puck cried out happily, sitting on her bed. “Catch a spot, Mama!” he instructed, pointing to the dancing rainbow wedges around the walls, where Carrie had added slices of rolled mirror to catch the light.

And in Olympic news of the day:

  1. The USA Men’s Hockey team beat Switzerland, 2 – 0.

  2. USA Women’s Bobsleigh took the bronze.

  3. And USA Women’s 3000 m Short Track relays also took bronze.
