That morning, Rose told Collette about her mishap over the phone. Later, Collette shared the news with Puck.

Onion fell down the stairs last night,” she said.

I will fix her, Mama,” Puck replied seriously. “I will fix her wiff plastic. That will make her feel better. I will help.”

Yes, Rose had taken a tumble, with laptop and ice cream. But the laptop was intact. Although Rose and the ice cream, were not.

I’m so sore,” she announced the next morning. “But I saved my laptop!”

For the gray morning hours:

  1. sitting practice for half an hour

  2. John MacArthur’s sermon

  3. quiet play for Puck and his garage-full of matchbox cars

  4. Coldplay

  5. OLeif met at four o’clock with his seminary advisor regarding academic and pecuniary circumstances of the semester.

Puck asked to read Collette’s Bible before lunch. He opened to the first page and began aloud, “The Lord and God. The Lord and God.”

The afternoon:

  1. three loads of laundry

  2. Puck played with the moon box, dropping black sand all over his tray.

  3. jogging

  4. cod, which smelled far too terrible to even think of eating, thus the lighting of many scented candles…

The evening brought comedy night, Joe, Rose, two bags of tortilla chips, and dip.

As they departed for the night, the sleet was already falling fast.

Then I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun…”

– Revelation 7:2a
