Early that morning Yali is already giving a drum solo concert in the living room complete with butter dish for cymbals... shortly later he walks into my room with a plate of hot cinnamon bread with butter singing the finale to “The Empire Strikes Back” whose only lyrics appear to be the word “bread” on repeat...
Out into a frosty sunrise...
Accidentally grab the squeaky pew at church... Rev. K back from India...
Join the table at Bible study already packed with cups of coffee and maps of the ancient Mediterranean... while waiting for nine-thirty, discuss family genealogy with an older man who traces his Missouri roots back to 1804 (nice)...
Kids runs out of Sunday School with potted morning glory seeds (they think)...
While we're driving home Yali wants to know... “What's the Super Bowl?”
My last sea gray IKEA salad plate is sitting broken in half in the kitchen sink... no one takes responsibility... usually the cats are blamed...
Oxbear takes a crack at Puck's car... gets the oil changed... then it dies again...
Puck takes my car to work... happy he only works six hours during Super Bowl Sunday and not eight as originally proposed...
Afternoon is gray and cold...
- Oxbear finishes paint-spraying both 3D-print Stormtrooper helmets in the carport for Yali and a buddy
- Drive Yali and Patience to the park... they run around for a long time after swapping winter coats to be funny
- Watch from the van with Oxbear as Puck texts me about German Navy issued leather belts and such between loading up shelves with produce on a day where most people aren't shopping for things like salads and apples
- Quick stop for a spool of transparent thread for Patience's dress (out of gold)
Home for an easy smorgasbord of leftovers after dark...
Yali begins securing a blanket fort in the living room with masking tape which then distracts him into creating himself masking tape “facial hair” resembling Colonel Sanders which then adjusts into a full “beard” to match Oxbear's...
Puck returns from work ready for Five Guys...
After the kids are in bed, begin the tedious process of stitching the gold ruffle to Patience's dress hem while watching “Elementary” with Oxbear as he keeps sanding down the Stormtrooper helmets...
