First Snow

In which winter officially makes its early debut…

A few flurries had bopped around the previous afternoon, checking out the scene, seeing what was what. And by Tuesday morning, there was an highly shallow dusting on the ground.

Meanwhile, the Santa Clause jokes had been rolling in for OLeif. Wherever he went, people seemed to think that his beard and hair were appropriate for the season. An associate near the rotisseries chickens at the store that shall not be mentioned told him seriously…
“I’ve been waiting for you.”

Puck had a tiny glass sparkling heart jewel that he planned to mail to Anneliese. He composed a note to send with it:

Dear Aneliese,
This is for you. And I love you so much.
Love, Puck

About mid-morning, the snow did fall. Lightly, but enough to resemble a scanty snow globe. Puck was excited…
“It’s finally Christmas!” he declared.

During Quiet Hour, Collette began composing the Washington family tree.
When Puck emerged an hour later during Collette’s jog, and before his bath, he had confessions to make…
“Mama. I dreamed of garbage last night.”
“You dreamed of garbage?”
“Yeah,” he replied epically. “At the end of space.”

A call from Rose. She had copies of her apartment key waiting for them. Work in Illinois over the next few days. And it was cold at nights. At least she had a couch for temporary sleeping. And not cardboard boxes on the floor.
