Flooded
Church began that morning under heavy winds and wild rains. Before the service began, already, the fields surrounding the church were flooded. While Colette and Puck waited in the atrium, she could see the 10 foot plumes of water flying into the air from a passing red car down the road. Halfway through the flooded path, it stalled. And there it remained until well after the morning service. Police and fire trucks blocked the road.
“Sunday School was terrible today,” said Linnea after church.
“I had to go to the bathroom so bad, and everyone kept talking about the flood — it was miserable!”
Back on the ranch, it was a quiet afternoon. Maps for some members of the family, after pork cuts, garlic bread, and honey dew melon. Later, Frances left to join his buddies at Puff ‘o Lump’s house, after Mom, Collette, and Carrie-Bri dropped him off in the slow-moving sunshine.
That evening, under cool skies, OLeif and Collette shared half a bag of forbidden Reeses peanut butter cups.
