Fourth

Day four had been reserved for… the petting zoo…

After buckets of goldfish crackers and M’nMs and other trail mix items, the zoo was open for business. Giant turtle, chickens, rabbits, baby donkey, baby wallaby, baby goat, baby camel, and, of course, the pony. Puck eagerly awaited his turn to ride, with Jordan Redcoat holding the reins.

And during the morning hour, they had learned how to make butter. For those children who were interested in shaking heavy whipping cream in a glass jar with a marble inside it.

The late morning was concluded with a watermelon-eating contest. And the announcement that, to date, the children already raised over $430 for the preschool in Alexandria.

Come afternoon, Puck woke up from a catnap to watch the last part of the Danish-Japanese game with Collette.

Come on, Danes!” he crowed. “Come on, Danes! When I was a Dane, I would kick that in dah net!”

Shortly later, Puck joined Linnea-Irish with the neighbor girls for an hour outside and with Mr. Freeze pops.

We go in my house, friends!” Puck declared when they came back momentarily to deposit a giant zucchini on the kitchen table. The little girls’ garden was flourishing that summer.

Meanwhile…

  1. Mom was busy clearing out the coat closet.

  2. Carrie-Bri was preparing to join Rose downtown for a few hours.

  3. Rose was to tear up carpet at church with her small group.

  4. Francis and Creole spent another afternoon at work on empty stomachs, for some reason ignoring the spaghetti and meatballs and garlic bread for lunch…

  5. Collette took Linnea shopping for shorts for AHG summer camp, which started Sunday. Upon return, she registered Francis and Linnea for the murder mystery dinner at the library in July.

And then for a quiet evening home with OLeif and fajitas, with the Puck snuggled down for a deep night’s rest.
