Fried Chicken at Grandma's
Puck started his morning by snuggling in with OLeif and Collette.
“Hello, little bug,” Collette said to him.
“I not a bed bug, Mama,” he said seriously.
Then Collette made him a yogurt parfait for breakfast, as OLeif brought him into the kitchen in a piggy-back ride.
“I eat it, Mama!” Puck next to squealed in happiness.
Following breakfast, Puck inducted his Mama into a world of trinkets involving: twin Irish snowmen (both named Kiir), mummy duck, miniature castle dubbed “Juuver”, Doctor Who, sack of flour for making cakes, block towers, and etc.
That night, Grandma Snicketts had invited whoever would, to come over for Kentucky Fried Chicken and Women’s Figure Skating. This grouping included Mom, Collette, Carrie-Bri, Linnea, and Francis. Francis, Collette was sure, had zero interest in the skating. But whenever fried chicken was involved…
After the fried chicken, biscuits, mashed potatoes and gravy, and macaroni and cheese had all been dished out, the program began. And when Kim Yu-Na took the ice, and it was explained that not only was her annual salary eight to nine million and she was a rock star in her homeland of South Korea, but that she also did not consider herself to be a rockstar….
Grandma said, “Well, if I was that wealthy, I could be humble too.”
And the evening ended with a sort of wipeout for Bode Miller in the Super-G. And that was mostly all.
