Funder

Sunday, September 20, 2009

Sunday commenced with beautiful torrential downpours, shocking levels of high-powered lightening and thunder, and three power outages in the space of two minutes.

Once they were finally on the road to church, the rain kicked up one more level and swamped out the city.
But Collette enjoyed it, as did Puck.
“Funder!” he said happily from his crib, when Collette went in to get him up.

Judah preached well that morning.
And Collette discovered that another couple had just decided to adopt from Missouri. And another couple had decided to adopt from Ethiopia. Funny that after ten years at that church and no one, to Collette’s knowledge, had adopted in that time, now three families were adopting at once.

Over at the house after services, Linnea was just returning from an AHG camp-out, having been somewhat flooded out of her tent. The girls had also spent most of the night in the shower house running the hot showers to avoid contracting hypothermia.
And Puck rejoiced in the abundance of decorative pumpkins around the house.

After lunch of honied ham, mashed potatoes, baked squash, and chocolate brownies, Francis began to ask Dad about purchasing his go-cart engine with his hard-earned money from Saturday.

Mom, Collette, and Carrie took Puck on a walk in the afternoon in the cool, wet, gray and the early autumn-ness. They returned in time for Puck to watch Donald Duck with Carrie over a bag of pretzels.

That evening, Joe, Magnus, and Rose arrived with many bags of snacks, after shopping around Borders for awhile (where Joe picked up another three-pack of moleskins).
There were Baby Bels, tortilla chips and two kinds of hummus, a variety of Cheez-Its, and iced tea over a Beatles movie.
