Gatos y Legos

OLeif sprang up at eight and shoved off to work half-awake with a headache and tupperware of chicken breasts. Later he realized that…
“I don’t even remember getting into the car.”
Collette and Puck pushed into the usual routine of a Thursday, which now included the never-ending chase after the cats.
“Aunt Kitty”, who had also recently acquired two kittens of their own, had sent Puck a toy too – a bird whistle that summoned feathered creatures to entertain cats at the patio door. Puck was impressed, and cajoled sounds from the yellow plastic throughout the day.
And continued creativity channels into the box of Legos on the couch.
During the lunch hour, Crackers curled in the fruit bowl beside Puck and his peanut butter sandwich.
“Look, Mom,” said Puck, lifting her softly into the air. “Her body is just the way it should be.”
– He smiled sweetly at his little darling. –
“I want to make her a flying cat, Mom.”
“Could I listen to Hah-suh-vain-ya, Mom?”
Lion King.
Thank you, OLeif.
Collette punched in the cassette, which only reminded her that the Ryes were finally emigrating the country sometime that evening through D.C. into the slums of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
Endings came quickly.
One and a half hours designing space ships at dinner.
Some meals were best left spent to creativity over platters of meat and veg.
Drawing into the bedtime hour, Collette and Puck watched semi-live sea footage of a dive in the Black Sea off the coast of Turkey – a 2,300/2,400 year-old shipwreck – at Rose’s suggestion.
And OLeif returned from a deluge of new projects “coming down the pipe” at work to crash for some relaxation hours and funny things.
He also addressed the pile of items that Puck had progressively broken through the past six days, including a Japanese magnifying glass, his red whistle from OLeif – which he had blown too hard, Collette’s foreign language translator, and some other unknown object from his room which he found right before falling asleep… which took awhile that particular night.
