In which Collette discovers gluten free cookies and the kids arrive for the usual Friday night routine…

Mom and Dad had arrived safely in Lisbon, with more word to follow on Mom’s blog, http://137483.blogspot.com/.

Francis arrived at 8:15 for brief studies in mathematics. Then he took Puck downstairs for awhile to play. Puck wanted to toss a bouncy ball down the steps before they descended.
“Wait first to see if any monsters eat the ball,” said Francis.
The ball landed with a thump.
“There’s no monsters!” Puck declared. “I told ya. God is with us.”
And Linnea reviewed her capitals of Africa via internet quiz.

Shortly into the mid-morning, Francis and Linnea left.
Francis had a choir competition at Missouri Baptist University.
And Linnea was to spend the night with Eleda.

For the afternoon…
The day was clouded over and still cool, so Collette and Puck remained indoors with loads of books, Original Sun Chips for Puck, and researching loaves of gluten-free soy-free rice bread for Collette… if such a thing did actually exist… At least there was the possibility of boxes of mixes for gluten free chocolate cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and snickerdoodles on Amazon. That was somewhat helpful…
Temperance.
Moderation.
Mark Driscoll during Quiet Hour.
“Can you turn it up, Mama?” Puck called from his room.

Meanwhile, OLeif had looked over the Brown Shoe sale and had come away with a pair of Piperlime brown boots, a pair of Mr. Roger’s Keds in dark blue, and a usually-priced $200+ pair of brown dress shoes, all for ten dollars apiece. Leave it to OLeif to find a bargain.

It was time for a movie night again with the kids.
But first, Puck did some crazy exercise-dancing to Belarusian music.
And OLeif returned after a farewell party for a co-worker, and a drop by Whole Foods for organic chocolate and a rather amazing Nana’s No Gluten Chocolate Cookie for Collette from the coffee shop across the street from work. And no less than five pairs of shoes for Collette for a grand total of nine dollars from the employee shoe sale. Including red and purple.

Not long later, the four kids, including Lolli, poured in bearing bags of Oreos, Nutty Bars, Peach Lipton Tea, and Root Beer.
“OK, Collette,” said Joe, “I have a surprise for you. Close your eyes and hold out your hands.”
“Alright.”
A box.
“Open your eyes.”
Butter.
Joe laughed.
“’Cause you can’t eat anything else I brought. There’s your snack.”
Collette thanked him. She wasn’t even kidding.
But the cookie was still pretty amazing.
Joe had also brought a yellow matchbox car for Puck.

And It was Joe’s turn to chose the film, Spiderman 3, linking it to Magnus’ original selection, The Age of Innocence, on account of both prominently featuring ‘cry babies’.
“Oh, I hate this movie!” Magnus declared, the more and more he remembered it.
The movie very quickly and predictably morphed into Mystery Science Theater 3000.

In other news…
Samwise was going to Duke University for Law School. He would graduate in 2014 at the age of 25.
