Hearts

It promised to be a more gray day, which pleased Collette greatly that morning. It seemed to be a rather non-interesting day, except for that part, but it was alright to begin.
It had been commented on the night before, how very fast the month of January had gone. Already, they were down to the last half-week, and February (when things began to pick up) was right there. And all the candy hearts, and velvet hearts, and chocolate hearts, and paper hearts, would be out in the stores and little shops. Red roses would suddenly appear in every corner of the flower shops and the cakes at the bakeries and markets would take on the form of three-dimensional hearts and find themselves wrapped in pink and red frostings. Interesting time of year…
As Collette typed, she noticed a canvas-topped red Chrysler parked below. The license plate was Pennsylvanian. The skies were gray-blue above, and she wished she would be in the woods and rolling green hills of Pennsylvania at that moment, on a cool fall day, perhaps stopping on the way to Vermont, or even better – to Maine and the gray oceans. What a day for such an adventure.
But Carrie-Bri had thought well of where to vacation that coming summer, or the following. Phoenix or Yosemite were on her list, and both sounded appealing, though in the mid-heat of July, Collette was not entirely sure Phoenix would be the best option.
