I'm Growing up too Fast
Sunday afternoon was all about celebrating Puck’s birthday with sunshine, Sugarfire BBQ, cookie cakes, badminton, and most of the family, including some of Puck’s favorites, the Vermeer family.
Year 10 had left a mark on the Big Guy, the responsibility of growing older, perhaps. Maybe most particularly after the announcement was made following gifts of Legos, books, and orange slime, that the Silverspoon family would be adopting a little girl from China. A sister for Puck and Yali. Puck had held the secret carefully for several weeks, a sign of growing older.
Or, as he put it to me the following morning on the drive to school, “I’m growing up too fast, Mom.”
